Basically a very choppy version of Super Meat Boy. No thanks. I knew this game was going to be a challenge to control when I couldn't go in the first door because of how "floaty" the running is.

So... I do like the visuals. And if the game were able to be controlled better, it would be fun. However, currently, the games has more problems than it should. I understand that you made this in a month, and it's not bad for a game with so little work put into it (As most people work on games like these for far longer).

However, the game engine needs a LOT of work. Assuming you were going for a Super Meat Boy style, you first need to work on making the controls more fluid and the frames less choppy. Currently, the game is next to unplayable because the game seems to have an ice physics mechanic and it doesn't work. It would be one thing if the levels were designed to be ice levels, but currently, the controls just don't work as is. There is also an increase in choppiness every time you jump which immediately makes jumping a chore.

This game would be more fun if it were more fluid and controlled better.

I also noticed that the game doesn't save. That's a big issue especially if the game crashes like it did for me. The crashing I assume was just my browser being overloaded because games like these slow down my browser considerably, but having to start over every time the game is loaded just doesn't work.

Honestly, this game should have had far more work put into it before releasing it. Currently it's just a game where you play a few levels and then you end up quitting when the game gets difficult because you can't handle the controls.

Thank you for your to-the-point feedback.

I'm sorry that you had performance issues, the few computers I tested it on seemed to play fine with no frame-dropping or anything like that. Would you mind private messaging me some information about your computer? I would definitely like to look into the problem and fix it if possible.

Thanks for playing and taking the time to write a review.

Well... The combat system pretty much makes the game unplayable. For some reason the game will only attack straight up. And there's problems with trying to get out of the text. Esc sometimes takes up to 5 tries to get out of the menu. That and the movement is really glitched. Not to mention the game is choppy as holy hell.

1 star for effort though. Because at least you tried on this one.

thanks for the review

It's a good idea... But the game doesn't progress past the first level... Can't review a game I can't play.

When I light up all the tiles, the game just freezes and I can't click anything. There's no next level marker or anything. I can't drag the icon anymore and nothing else can be done.

I gave it 5 stars because I know this has to be a problem on my end if this is on the front page and I'm pretty sure others would have mentioned this if it were happening to them. But it does look like a great game and feels like a great way to get the brain going... So all I need to do is figure out what the hell is going on with why I can't seem to get this game to work right.

eliolanda responds:

That's strange. Try playing game from Level Select screen or try using different browser, that might help.

It's hard to enjoy a game this choppy. The controls are purely awful and the game lags quite badly for being such a simple game. Plus... There's supposed to be music I assume by how you put credits in your notes, but there's no music. It's just deafening silence. The game gets bland far too quickly.

Niborious7 responds:

It works fine for me on chrome.
What web browser are you using?

Terrible controls make this game completely unplayable. you'd think with all the time you had to make this that it would be good. It looks good, but the controls are just sloppy.

Lambtaco responds:

In the future, when complaining about controls, could you please explain in detail? I know it's hard through text, but "sloppy" isn't enough to go on. The controls are precise as hell for me, and a ton of other people found he game playable.

Was it control lag? That's a known issue with Flash, and I think AS2 in particular. If you kept running for a second after releasing a key, you can turn down the quality, and turn off the backgrounds from the pause menu. That usually eliminates enough lag to fix the issue.

I was kinda expecting to watch this get drawn. As it is now, could easily have been an animated gif since there's no real animation going on, it's just a slide show of pictures.

thanks

First, it was annoyingly difficult. Those stupid pests are WAY too smart and actively try to corner you and use the portals to trap you. That needs to stop. Secondly, there were WAY too many to keep track of. I can understand you wanting to make it hard, but there's a limit to what people can keep track of. It's pretty much impossible to make it past five, and there are about 4 spawn points that basically pop up in an impossible zone. Oh... and the springboards are crap. They are difficult to manuever around and they will most of the time spring you RIGHT into an enemy. There should be a specific button for using the spring boards if we want to use it. The game is hard enough without the springboards hindering progress

This game's biggest weakness is that it has no point. There is nothing to be gained, and there are no unlockables. As far as I can tell. I'd say add a story mode or add levels with varying difficulty. Hell, may even some unlockables like a weapon that can destroy all the pests on the screen, or one that can change the position of the pill, or hell... even one that freezes time so you can empty the playing field a bit. This game REALLY left a lot to be desired.

Floriaen responds:

It's hard, yes.
I confess.
Annoying difficult, yes it could.
It could for people who doesn't want to play hardcore games.
I am ok with that and you are right.

However it was my intention.
For myself, I can't play an easy game.
I always intend to add a dummy's mode to my games you know...
But I can't treat them like that, even if they are stupid and too simple they don't deserve it :p

I began to implement one another level, initially unlockable by the score but I don't have enough time to add it.
However it's in the game as an easter egg.
And this level, I am sorry about that, could be your nightmare.

Good quality audio, but it's missing something. No, not the other seasons songs you put in, which if you decide to, I have all them saved as mp3s... Maybe it was something in the background, or maybe something else. I dunno.

Atlas responds:

I'm not sure what else I could have added besides maybe a background but it would probably be just straight black. Well like I said if this is well received I will make another one with the other seasons even if I hate them like Jungle Fury and RPM.

nice

but incredibly short. Was it even finished. It looked like you were supposed to get more items but there wasn't anything. Still. I liked the direction it was going. inuyasha on the tree and bone eater well overflowing with blood were nice touches though. A sort of silent hill meets inuyasha... God, now I want a Silent Hill style inuyasha game.

o0OInuyashaO0o responds:

The items that you were missing are extremely secret. You need to click on the farm in the dark village that doesn't look like you can click it, then you need to use the hoe on the farm and you obtain a pumpkin.
If you take the pumpkin to the hut and click the fire you get the jacko-lantern.
If you take the jacko-lantern to the hidden grave at the top of the endless stairs you get a MC pickaxe.
If you take the pickaxe to the rocks at the start of the level you get a diamond.
After that you get a tiny bit of a secret ending when you go to see kagome after activating the black hole.
...
and im pretty sure i mentioned its a short game in the description, but hey~ lets critique my hard work some more.

not too bad

I do enjoy the infinite continues. However, I'm running into a glitch where the brick stops responding. I have to die in order to get it to respond again. Really need to fix that. Other than that, the game was quite enjoyable. A fun way to kill an afternoon.

dfrriz responds:

Bug fixed :-)

I am a nerd. Nothing else needs to be said...
