This game was fun, but the size of the screen needs to be reduced. I don't know if it's just me or not, but the screen is too big for my monitor, and I can't see the streak counter or the ring (Sorry, RANG counter). Other than that, it was pretty fun.

I did like that some characters played differently, like Knackles being able to fly and Shaq being able to hit basketballs into a net. I kinda wish there was more differences between each character, since most of them control the same, but I realize that it would make the making of this game much more difficult.

Darren responds:

Dunno if you've been back since, but I did adjust the size shortly after your review. Have added the rest of the characters and medals since, and some of those characters play a little differently (the one you unlock with Tom shoots bullets, for instance) and all characters have a hot streak mechanic (catch fire for a bit after a streak of 25) to spice things up.

This is one of those games that's fun in a stupid way. And it's exactly the kind of stupid fun we need right now. Gotta say I had a lot more fun with this game than I was expecting.

The only real complaint I had was that movement using the mouse didn't seem to work very well. Turning ended up being far more difficult than it should have been. But the design of the game sort of made up for it for the most part.

Jasonario responds:

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. You can actually change the mouse sensitivity by hitting tab in the game if that was the issue.

So. This was a good game, don't get me wrong. I did enjoy it. However, the game gets really tedious by level 3, and starts to get really repetitive. There really should be something to break up the monotony a little. I even tried the cheats, but that didn't help either. It is charming at certain points, but overall, the game needs something more to be good. First off, the lack of a jump really hurts the game, and honestly, I'd prefer to be able to use a controller for this game (but I know not every game will be able to have that functionality). The art could use some improvement, but overall, I did like the old animations styles of yours so I can let it slide. Good games don't always have to look the best.

Overall, it's a great effort, and an interesting game, but it does get old a little too quickly. Games like Streets of Rage still had some replayability despite being repetitive, but thsi game seems to lack something that makes it replayable.

FutureCopLGF responds:

Cheers! I appreciate you giving it a whirl and giving feedback! I agree that maybe my lack of a jump button might've been childish on my part (wanted to avoid bunny-hopping playthroughs) and that I probably could've spiced it up a bit more with either a more advanced scoring/combo system to incentivize variation of moves, or just tweaking the AI and adding new enemy types to keep it more fresh (or maybe even shortening the levels). It's food for thought and I'll definitely keep it in mind for future brawlers!

Wanted to do a new review after the recent updates (again). Just want to say I really enjoy this. I know the game is just meant as a parody and a slight time waster, but it's a fun time waster. I've found myself coming back to this game when I'm bored more times than I care to admit when I need a nice fun and easy game. The improvements have helped the game a lot (like the medals to see who you've won as), and the commentary on character bios has been pretty enjoyable.

The only issue that still remains is that whenever Big Shelled One or Big Bang Theory are on screen, the whole game lags to the point of the intros taking twice as long and it causes the intro music to loop twice. Also, how is it I keep doing a small jump that barely gets me off the ground? I keep doing it randomly and I don't know if I'm doing some form of special jump or not. Not an issue per se, just curious on how that's done and what I'm doing to do the small jump.

Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing what else pops up in the game and future games you might have in mind.

Darren responds:

Hm, hadn't personally had any issue with the big characters, but I'll see what I can do about reducing detail on their models to make it easier for the cpu to process, or something.

The small jump is an accidental thing that I didn't even discover until pretty recently. I've found I can only really do it if I hit the space bar for as short a time as I can, and only with wider characters (proportionally). My assumption is that since the ground collisions take the art into account, what's happening is that by jumping as shortly as possible, a wide character starting to rotate makes it touch the ground from the air and think it landed, at which point it will just finish rotating without rising anymore. I didn't fix it because it seemed rare and was kind of fun just as a trick to do (especially since this is the only Sonac game where you can't spin dash).

And once again, I appreciate your commitment to reviewing this game as it updates, and good to see that you're getting plenty of continued entertainment out of it.

Simple yet effective. It's not bad. Though the music is a bit loud, may want to put a warning about possibly turning down your sound. Other than a few framerate drops, there wasn't really much to say about the game. The game is pretty self explanatory (in a good way) and gets to the point, which I can respect. The game is a fun little time waster. The only downside is that it gets repetitive a bit too quick, which I assume is why the game is short. The shortness of the game actually works to an advantage due to people not really having to play the game for long unless they want to.

So yeah... Keep up the good work. Other than the few minor things I mentioned, it's a pretty good, simple game.

BryceSummer responds:

Thanks for the in-depth feedback!

It wasn't too bad a game. But sometimes the controls just don't work at all. When you click, it does one of 5 things randomly and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to picking which motion the hand does. There seriously needs to be an in game explanation, tutorial or something... The game doesn't work as is. This gets really bad around the Big levels where suddenly 90% of clicks just don't work anymore. It just stops working and you can't continue.

The game needs some music too... The game is kinda dull as is. The sound isn't very abundant.

But, if the game played better, then it would be worth playing through. The biggest problem with this game so far is the controls that don't work. If it weren't for that, and maybe adding some more visuals to enhance the game a bit, you might want to think about it.

Look up a game called Ball Revamped 4. That game is a prime example of making a mundane premise interesting. I suggest trying it out to compare just to show how lackluster this game is.

StuffedWombat responds:

heyo.

no clue why the "control dont work", they seem to be fine for everyone else.

Maybe the problem is that you thought the Hand had to move?
Actually, the Ball has to move and the hand remains still while the mouse button is pressed.

Also, you are very rude and I do not enjoy helping you to enjoy my game, but here we are.

Welp... The importing save option doesn't work. Sort of a game breaker that the game can't bring back my data which is suddenly gone even though I've been playing this almost every day for 2 weeks. Game breaker that completely kills the entire game when you play and suddenly the game data disappears. And I was almost at end game... I assume? I had mostly discovered almost the entirety of all three maps including most of the secret areas. It really hurts me that I lost that.

Other than that, the game is really great. Unlike a similar game like Minecraft, you're working towards an actual goal and there is actually a plot. I love this game, and I love how it shifts as you meet new characters and then shifts as you travel to new places. So many things make this game great that I don't think I could sit here for the next hour and list each one. This really isn't a hard game, you just have to know how to manage your resources and know when not to fight battles. The game is a great way to let people strategize and come up with ways to do different things easily. And even when you leave the first island and move to the other island, there are still times where you'll go back to the other island for certain things. I love this game and I definitely would love to see the full finished game done. For a demo, this is better developed than most actual games. There's plenty to do even when not engaged in plot, and you can keep yourself busy for a very long time.

The only reason this game doesn't get a full mark is because of the save system. Yes... I'm very salty about losing two weeks of work and not being able to get it back despite the fact I have a save I can import because I suspected I'd eventually lose my data due to cookies being replaced or deleted. That's just a dick move by the game for no real reason.

davidmaletz responds:

Do you mind sending me your exported .asav file? It should have no problem importing it - just drag and drop it in the game window or select options -> import save on the title page. If there's something wrong with the save file, I might be able to fix it.

Um... Am I supposed to be able to do something? Right now there is absolutely no interactivity between the player and the battle. I tried clicking everything and so far nothing. When reading the description, it sounded like I was supposed to be able to move cards around, but so far I haven't been able to do anything other than watch all my side's characters die. I clicked the heart once and it did... something? But it only happened once and since then I still went back to being able to do nothing.

Nonoplayer responds:

Thank you for trying it out. There are two controls: click to swap/rearrange your squads' spawn priorities BEFORE battle start; click to feed hearts to unlock monsters' effects anytime.

Why?! Why is this game so addictive?! It's simple, yet effective. Surprising you managed to make a good game out of this. Normally this kind of game would be VERY boring to me. But you did a pretty good job at taking a simple subject matter with little in the way of content and made the most out of it. I never imagined such a simple game could be so addictive.

jeremy7986 responds:

Thanks for your review! At the past time, I thought why Tetris is a fun classic game. How Tetris can let player to have fun. That's why I wanted to design a simple but addictive game. Of course, thanks Ugandan Knuckles! and thanks the composer! :D

And thank you again! I'm glad to see you enjoy this game! :D

My only complaint is that it seemed a bit short. But it was quite a mind puzzler in some spots. It did a pretty good job between difficulty and hints to help you along.

Overall a pretty fun way to challenge your brain. Just wish it was a bit longer cause I was sad to see it end.

selfdefiant responds:

Thanks! I know it could have been longer. I didn't want to make it too long though. I will be able to make sequel. :)

I am a nerd. Nothing else needs to be said...
